I had already mentioned it—the original Mac mini (the G4) contains traces of a dock connector on its internal daughterboard. Until today, not much was known, but I stumbled upon a photo of a Mac mini cover with the said connector.
According to the collector who owns this cover, Apple had planned to release the Mac mini at the same time as the iPod mini, but the latter was delayed, causing Apple to modify the Mac mini to remove the connector.

To me, considering the shape (and the dates), it’s more related to the iPod nano, however.
But the concept is intriguing.
