In a tweet from a Japanese user about the Pippin, we see a rather unique console.
Firstly, the console lacks any branding and appears to have standard ADB ports. Additionally, it’s connected to a keyboard and a mouse in classic versions from the era (an Apple Keyboard M0116). We can also spot a modem, which appears to be a Geoport model (fairly large). However, it’s the controller that stands out: it’s angular, with a larger trackball, a more pronounced directional pad, and a quite different button layout. I’ve seen this version before, which looks more like a prototype than an actual controller, in a document about the console. The person who posted the image even provided me with a scanned version (thanks!).
