If you watched the keynote this year, you might have noticed something peculiar behind Craig Federighi around the 1-hour-30-minute mark: a transparent Mac. It’s a classic feature in prototypes from the 1980s for this type of machine.
To be honest, since I couldn’t retrieve the video in 2160p, I can’t determine if the Mac in question is an original from Apple’s archives or if it’s one of the models from MacEffects, who ran a Kickstarter to produce transparent cases last year. But even if that’s the case, it’s quite rare to see nostalgia at Apple, especially for prototypes.
