Seen on eBay, a prototype hard drive for the Apple II (yes, I don’t only talk about Macs). Sold by the folks at MacEffects, it’s an empty case.
Why talk about a hard drive if it’s empty? According to the listing, Apple had planned to develop a hard drive in a case designed for the Apple II—this case—but the project was abandoned. The prototype is therefore just the shell of the future (now canceled) hard drive for the Apple II. What actually came out was the ProFile (an external hard drive designed for the Apple III and Lisa but compatible with the Apple II) and the Hard Disk 20SC, designed for Macs but also compatible with the Apple II.
