A prototype of a Macintosh II tower

Seen on eBay, a prototype of a Macintosh II in a tower format, while the machine was only released as a standard desktop version (under the display).

The seller is asking for $10,000 () and apparently decided to take the photos with a camera from that era: they’re blurry, noisy, and poorly framed.







As some users noted on the 68KMLA forums, this is a prototype of Columbo. This machine, featured in the book Apple Design, was supposed to be a high-end tower featuring two 68030 processors around 1988. The tower shown here is labeled Macintosh II (M5000).

The tower is clearly recognizable
