Seen in a video from the Computer Clan (a regular with prototypes), a prototype of the 17-inch PowerBook G4 in its first version.
Watching the video, the prototype seemed… familiar. And after searching through my archives, I realized it was a model I had talked about here in 2014. There are some differences due to wear (and the photo quality from back then), the missing keys on the keyboard in 2014 have returned but the visible serial numbers on the photos show that it’s the same prototype.
It’s a prototype, so the motherboard is red, there are lots of stickers, and some components are unfinished. It starts up, but there’s clearly an issue with the cache memory: this model is supposed to have 1 MB of level 3 cache.
