In a video from the Computer Clan (you’re already following the Computer Clan, right?), you can see a Quadra 700 prototype, codename Spike. This is the computer seen in Jurassic Park (among other places), even though it’s not running UNIX, Timmy.
Specific to this model, you can see the codename (Spike), the fact that it’s a PVT (basically, a test machine close to a commercial model), that it doesn’t have the Quadra name on the front, and that the serial number indicates it was produced in August 1991, a bit before the official release (October). This machine has an older, soldered ROM, whereas other prototypes have a removable ROM module. The only unfortunate thing is that the hard drive didn’t contain anything specific—it was apparently used as a regular Mac, even though the system was indeed created before the Mac’s release.
