A prototype of the PowerBook 170, one of the first PowerBooks

Seen on eBay, a prototype of the PowerBook 170, a rather old model.

The PowerBook 170 is part of the first wave of Apple laptops, following the Macintosh Portable. It has no markings under the case, but there is a sticker that reads « HD Integration Test Group ». Ironically, as the seller points out, the hard drive in this model doesn’t seem to work.

It powers on

But doesn’t actually boot

No markings

A sticker

It was sold for $102, but the seller requested an exorbitant shipping fee ($360 for France…), a method sometimes used to try to dilute a high price.
