Seen on Twitter, something that doesn’t necessarily look like a prototype: Mac Studio storage modules.
According to Kosutami, they probably contain a test OS. As a reminder, the storage modules for Mac Studio (and Mac Pro) are not SSDs in the traditional sense. The controller is inside the M1 (or M2, or T2) chip, and Apple’s proprietary flash memory is interfaced via PCI-Express. This means it is not possible to install a standard SSD using an adapter, and replacing the modules requires a full system reset because the data is encrypted and tied to the controller. So even if you buy the modules, it’s unlikely you can retrieve the data without the matching Mac.
