Seen on Mercari, in Japan, a trial version of the Pippin. It’s not really a prototype, more like a test version intended for (the few) developers, and the seller is asking about ¥180,000, which is a little over €1,000.
It’s the same model as mine, with the black box. The seller is offering it without accessories (so no controller and no modem) and without any discs. He mentions that it has a ROM that allows it to boot from a hard drive, although that doesn’t seem to be guaranteed, and he doesn’t appear to have tested it. Finally, you can see that the front marking is missing. On the retail version, the PowerPC and Atmark logos are engraved, but on the test versions, they were stickers, which have been removed.
