Some images of prototypes of Pippin in Apple Design.

A few years ago, I talked about the book Apple Design (The Work of the Apple Industrial Design Group) by Paul Kunkel, sharing images from a (poor quality) PDF copy. Since then, I found the actual book, so here are some cleaner images.

A prototype of the first Macintosh

Seen on eBay, a prototype of the first Macintosh, the one from 1984. It was sold through a (non-public) offer, with a final sale price of €1,800.

A Commodore 64 program on a vinyl record delivered with a floppy disk

Today, yet another vinyl record with data, but this time it’s a program for Commodore 64 and not ZX Spectrum (that’s a change). And the vinyl also came with a 3.5-inch floppy disk (for PC, not for Commodore).

A demo Apple Watch Series 1

Seen on eBay, an uncommon Apple Watch model: a Series 1 demo unit. The Series 1 is already fairly rare; as a reminder, it’s a mix between the first model and the Series 2, but without waterproofing, GPS, etc.

A quiz for ZX Spectrum on a Polish vinyl

Papa Dance is a Polish band from the 1980s, and the record Poniżej Krytyki (1986) contains a program for the ZX Spectrum.

A prototype of the PowerBook G3 Kanga

Seen on Reddit, a prototype of a somewhat obscure PowerBook, the PowerBook G3 Kanga.

A fax in a 1990s German rock CD

This record isn’t exactly a vinyl containing data, but close to it. Because it’s even weirder: it’s a CD containing a fax.

A prototype of an iPod Touch 3G that takes photos

Seen on Twitter, a seemingly fairly common prototype: a 3rd-generation iPod Touch with a camera. However, this unit appears to be functional.

A prototype of the first iPod Touch

Seen on Twitter, a prototype of the first iPod Touch.

Rome By Night, the interactive video on vinyl in 1984

Rome By Night, by the Italians Dhuo, dates back to 1984. And this vinyl contains a program for the ZX Spectrum on its B side.
